Five Things to Know in Herndon This Week

This week is your first chance to voice your thoughts on the town's 2012 budget

1. Health Advantage Yoga center is holding a fundraiser on Tuesday—. Two donation classes will be held and funds will go toward the Tsunami Relief Fund. A class will be held for levels 1-2 and another will be held for level 3 and above.

2. This weekend closes the Elden Street Players run of If you haven’t caught the award-winning musical yet, this will be your last chance to do so. Tickets are $22 for general admission and $19 for students and seniors.

3. Herndon residents will have their first chance to tell the Town Council their thoughts on the town’s on Tuesday night. The public hearing starts at 7 p.m. at the Mary Ingram Council Chambers, 765 Lynn St. The proposed budget was released on April 1 and a full copy can be found at www.herndon-va.gov.

4. Volunteers are needed to pack at three area Title I schools. Bags of food are sent home in children’s backpacks so they have food to eat over the weekend. Volunteers are meeting on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Sully Government Center, 4900 Stonecroft Blvd., in Chantilly.

5. Speaking of volunteers, the annual will be held this Sunday. The event is by invitation only, but we’ll have coverage of it for you to check out afterward. The Mayors Volunteer Appreciation Awards honors hundreds of volunteers who give their time throughout the town each year.
