UPDATE 9:45 a.m.: Wow! That has to be a record. This story was up just 30 minutes before Sammy's owners saw it and called the family and were reunited with their dog—in time for Christmas!

Herndon Patch is here to help whenever there are lost or found pets who need help being reunited with their families. E-mail the editor at jennifer.vanderkleut@patch.com or post it to our Town Square board and we'll help spread the word!

Note: Phone numbers have been removed from this story so the family doesn't continue to get phone calls. Thank you!

A Herndon family is trying to spread the word about the sweet pup they found Monday, so they can hopefully reunite it with its owners before the Christmas holiday.

Susan said her daughter found the dog wandering along Herndon Parkway near the intersection of Dranesville Road around 2 p.m. Monday.

"No collar, and he was scared, but very sweet," Susan said.

She said the dog appears to be around 8 to 10 years old, and looks like a possible Corgi, beagle, and lab mix.

A couple of photos of the dog are included above, as well as a downloadable PDF flier.
