Arthur Nachman Honored as Herndon Rotary Citizen of the Year

Nachman was honored at a banquet on Oct. 19.

Herndon area residents, business professionals, representatives and organizations came out to honor Arthur Nachman as the Rotary Club of Herndon's 2012 Citizen of the Year on Oct. 19. 

Attendees included Mayor Lisa Merkel, Vice Mayor Connie Hutchinson, Herndon town council members Sheila Olem and Dave Kirby, Ann Rust and many others. Merkel, Rust, Stuart Nachman and Grace McDaniel shared stories of Arthur Nachman's accomplishments while poking a little good-natured fun at his expense. 

Sharon Bonneau, Herndon Middle School's director of bands, said she appreciates all of Arthur Nachman's support of the school's band programs, both at Herndon Middle School and Herndon High School.

Rotary Club of Herndon President Yvonne Hoffman presented the award to Arthur Nachman. He is the 47th recipient of the award.

The Rotary Club of Herndon is an active service club in the town, meeting at 7:30 a.m. each Wednesday at Amphora Diner in Herndon. The Citizen of the Year Award is the highest honor the club presents, recognizing a volunteer for their outstanding efforts and contributions to the Herndon community.
