The Council for the Arts of Herndon Launches new Website

Proper visibility on tablet computers and mobile phones led The Council for the Arts of Herndon to commission a new website that launched today. Located online at http://www.herndonarts.org, the new website automatically resizes itself for easy viewing on different sized screens.

Visitors will also notice improved design and new functions. “We wanted to involve people with interactive features like social media, photo galleries, calendars and mapping,” said Executive Director Signe Friedrichs. “The Board played a very active role in talking with residents and working internally to ensure that the site is easy and fun to use.”
The arts organization recruited Herndon web design and development company Mike Truese Creations to reinvent the site that focuses on local arts. Friedrichs negotiated a $4,000 in-kind donation from the web company to finance the new website.

“I believe in helping my community shine,” said owner Mike Truese. “We also donated a new site to a charity that helps adults with disabilities throughout western Fairfax County, and I am talking with several other Herndon organizations to help them make sure that they comply with the new standards websites are expected to use.  Helping them spruce up with new features and designs is the fun part of the programming and database work that goes into these jobs.”

The Council for the Arts is appreciative of Truese’s gift. “We could not have created a new website for Herndon residents without this donation,” said Friedrichs. “The organization works thanks to all of our volunteers who serve on the Board, other people who help create and staff events and to organizations like Mike Truese Creations who underwrite an entire initiative by themselves.”
