Making Good Use of a School Snow Day -- Herndon High Cadets Help Harbor House Residents Dig Out

Herndon High School’s Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps' (NJROTC) enjoyed helping the senior citizens residing at Herndon Harbor House.  There, the cadets spent hours removing over a foot of heavy snow on and around automobiles buried or otherwise stuck in the three parking areas.

It was a big effort much appreciated by residents, some of who ventured onto the snowy lots to thank the cadets for their hard work.

“Thank you so much,” said one kind woman.  “That car you just cleared was mine, and the one next to it is my neighbor’s.”

“You’re very welcome,” responded one of the many young volunteers.  “We enjoy doing it.”
