Herndon Elementary Teacher Receives Environmental Grant

Herndon Elementary school's STEM lab teacher, Robyn Tremaine has just received a grant from the Clean Fairfax Council to enhance the environmental curriculum at Herndon Elementary. Ms. Tremaine is part of the FCPS GET2GREEN program which promotes environmental education and action in grades K-12. She has been instrumental in reinforcing the "food rescue" program which allows kids to donate unopened food to local food banks. She also has created a partnership with Terracycle which takes used school supplies to create new things. This grant money will be used to purchase a composting bin for the cafeteria and a rain barrel for Herndon Elementary's courtyard.
