FRIDAY 

Kids at Hope Herndon is presenting Passport to Family Fun at the Herndon Community Center Friday night. Parents get to act as the Treasure Hunters, seeking out the hidden talents and strengths of their children. The event is designed for children and a parent to take part together.

Reston Town Center will be rocking during its Rock N Roll Skate Night with a live DJ starting at 8 p.m. The music, along with prizes and games, will last until 11 p.m.

Café Montmartre is host of Friday Night Jazz at Lake Anne in Reston. This week will showcase the Charles Bubeck Quartet performing from 8:30-11:30 p.m. Reservations are suggested for those coming for dinner. There’s no cover charge for the event.

SATURDAY 

The Udvar-Hazy Center is presenting African American Pioneers in Aviation Day on Saturday, dedicated to recognizing the accomplishments of black aviation pioneers. The day will include a panel discussion, hands-on activities, book signings and more.

Join Scooby-Doo, Tweety bird, Cat in the Hat and other beloved characters for the weekly Saturday Morning Cartoon Skate at the Reston Town Center pavilion. Children can have fun skating with their friends and favorite characters from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Need your Girl Scout Cookie fix? Area Girl Scouts will be stationed at the Reston Town Center pavilion on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. selling delicious Girl Scout cookies. Patrons can also buy boxes to donate to the Reston Fire Station and troops overseas. Know more places where local Girl Scouts will be setting up shop to sell cookies? Let us know in the comments! 

SUNDAY 

Children ages 6-12 can investigate strange and gross animal adaptations at the Herndon Community Center’s Animal Gross Out. They’ll conduct science experiments, make slime and learn about creatures that might make them giggle and say “eww.” Registration is required by Thursday, Feb. 23.
