The Girl Scouts, Daisies and Brownies of St. Joseph's School, along with the help of the entire student body, worked to help families in need by collecting and packing tuna noodle casserole dinner kits on Friday.

During the annual Feed a Family Youth Service Project SJS students gathered in the cafeteria and filled bags with cans of tuna, cream of mushroom soup and pasta noodles. They also included a recipe card for tuna noodle casserole, as well as handwritten notes from the girls.

The troop creates tuna noodle casserole kits are because they are high in omega 3s and have lots of protein. Additionally, a fish meal was chosen for the season of Lent. The kits were donated to Catholic Charities Diocese of Arlington.

In addition to the dinner kits, Girl Scouts helped collect toiletries needed for the Catholic Charities Diocese of Arlington. The meals and toiletries will be distributed to food pantries in Northern Virginia, including Leesburg, Alexandria and Front Royal.

Kudos to the girls and the church! Often it's fogotten that those in need
have to eat even when it's not Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Very good point, Ruth! And the meals the kids made will literally help feed hundreds of people. It's a very cool project. :)
