Speak Out: What Would You Ask the Council, Mayoral Candidates?
Local press will have the chance to ask the Herndon Town Council and mayoral candidates up to three questions at the DRCC candidates forum on April 18. We're taking suggestions for questions.
The Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce and Herndon Community Television will host their Herndon Candidates Forum on April 18 from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.
During the event candidates will make an opening statement that will include resume highlights, their reasons for running and their major issues of concern.
The Chamber and HCTV have invited members of the local press, including Herndon Patch editor Leslie Perales, to ask questions of the candidates. There will be a 10-minute intermission, then they will take questions from the audience.
What questions do you want answered by the council and mayoral candidates? Are you interested in their positions on the Metro, downtown redevelopment, or economic development? Are you concerned with traffic, policing and crime, or services provided by the town?
Let us know in the comments and tell us what topics you'd like to see the candidates address. Participating press has been given until the afternoon of April 13 to finalize our questions.
The forum will be open to those who want to attend in person, and attendees will be able to ask questions during the questions from the audience portion. Viewers watching on HCTV at home can call in questions to 703-689-2328. The forum will be held at the Mary Ingram Council Chambers, 765 Lynn St.
The three mayoral candidates are Lisa Merkel, Jasbinder Singh and William Tirrell. The council candidates include Eric Boll, Jeffrey Davidson, Connie Haines Hutchinson, Melissa Jonas, Dave Kirby, Sheila Olem, Charlie Waddell, Dave Webster II and Grace Han Wolf.
