Slow But Steady Turnout at Herndon Election
By 1:25 p.m. about 1,100 people had come out to vote.
Herndon's candidates are gathered outside the Herndon Community Center for a last chance to chat with voters before they go to fill out their ballots in the 2012 Herndon town election. By 1:30 p.m. more than 1,100 people came out to vote. There are about 11,800 registered voters in the town of Herndon. Candidates are hoping for a turnout of about 3,000 residents.

I hope that people are planning on voting on their way home from work. I hope that there are more than 1100 citizens out of 11,827 that care about the future of the town in which they live.

Whew, well I'll save some money, because I don't need the moving van now.
Good that big party politics didn't make any difference. Unfortunate that the conservative vote was split for Mayor. Unfortunate that most voters didn't know what VNM was, or didn't notice their emblem on some pamphlets. I guess we'll see another eight months of their games now. We can thank three candidates for that. Good that VNM support didn't make any difference.
Good that the biggest vote went to someone who had nothing to do with either VNM or the party chair. Good that someone who rejected VNM got the second highest number of votes. Good that voters wanted some previously eliminated conservative Council members back. Unfortunate that voters didn't recognize Dave Webster's value this time.

You know, how sad........when there are over 11,000 voters, and all they expect or what they expect, is 3, 000!!! I mean, just how sad is that. When you stop to think that with that many registered voters (11,000) and only 3,000 turn out, what does that tell you? Well, it tells you that there are about 8,000 voters who don't deem it necessary to elect those who run their town. If you don't vote, you have no right to complain. Just think for a moment, what you basically have here is....the 3,000 telling the other 8,000 who THEY, will have as their leaders! Well, I hope everyone will be happy with their leaders, for you get what you vote or don't, vote for!
