Flakes began falling in the late hours of Wednesday night leaving a layer of fresh snow for the Thursday morning commute and giving all Fairfax County Public Schools students a two-hour delay.

FCPS announced the delay at about 5 a.m. this morning. The National Weather Service predicts about an inch of snow will have accumulated by the time it tapers off around 9 a.m. today. The National Weather Service says more snow may be in the forecast for Friday starting at 1 p.m., making for a difficult evening rush hour.
