Herndon Student Honored for Aspirations in Computing

Herndon's Allison Grasmeder, a Bishop O'Connell senior, was honored by the National Center for Women and Information Technology.

Allison Grasmeder, of Herndon, was honored with the Award for Aspirations in Computing at the Virginia-DC Affiliate Awards Celebration of the National Center for Women and Information Technology on March 31. 

Allison, a senior at Bishop O'Connell High School, is the daughter of Jon and Maria Grasmeder, of Herndon. She is a member of the National Honor Society, a starter on the varsity softball team and has been a three-time participant in the Botball Global Conference on Educational Robotics, where she has mentored other students interested in robotics. 

Allison plans to attend Drexel University in Philadelphia in the fall to study biomedical engineering. She hopes to someday build prosthetics and medical devices.
