The Rotary Club of Herndon distributed free computers to Herndon Middle School students on Saturday as part of its Computers for Students Program.

The program works to provide all Herndon students equal access to home computers for educational purposes, without regard to their income.

Herndon Rotary works with nonprofit Virginia Star to collect donated computers from government agencies and local businesses.

The Herndon Middle School Computer Club students were able to work on rebuilding and updating the computers with the appropriate hardware and software before they were distributed.

Members of the Rotary Club of Herndon coordinate the program, provide volunteers to train the students and their families and handle the distribution of computers.
