Reston's Giving Circle of HOPE announced it will give $55,000 to 11 area nonprofits in the upcoming year's grant cycle.

This is the ninth grant cycle for the Giving Circle of HOPE, a Reston-based group of more than 100 members that was founded in 2004 to promote volunteerism and philanthropy.

Members seek to make a difference in the community by contributing their time, talents and money to projects which encourage self-sufficiency and well-being among people in need in Northern Virginia.

Since its inception, the Giving Circle has given out over $525,000 through the Grant program, Empty Bowls and Gifts That Give Hope.

A celebration to honor the nonprofit partners will be held in early 2013.
