Herndon Man Charged for Setting Apartment Fire

The fire caused about $10,000 in damages.

The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department charged Chinna Nasar Reddy Nagendle, 64, with allegedly setting a fire inside an apartment building on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2011. 

Nagendle, who lives in the 2300 block of Rolling Fork Circle, started the fire at about 6:50 p.m. and it was extinguished by an overhead sprinkler. There was minor fire and water damage to the building at the origin of the fire and the apartment below. 

Nearby residents were temporarily displaced. An automatic fire alarm was activated which drew firefighters to the scene. No injuries were reported. Nagendle is charged with allegedly burning an occupied dwelling, a Class 4 felony. Damages are estimated at $10,000.
