Herndon High Marching Band Back in Session
Sudents are back at school a month early to start work on fall show.
Thursday marked the second day of band camp for Herndon High School's freshman marching band members.
HHS Band Director Kathleen Jacoby said there are 120 students in the marching band this year.
The fall 2012 marching show is called Songs of the Northern Seas, full of music with a Celtic-Irish theme. The music includes selections from How to Train Your Dragon, Riverdance and Lord of the Dance.
"The movie music is a lot of fun," Jacoby said.
Herndon High School's band camp takes place throughout the month of August; the last two weeks, beginning on the 20th, will include theme nights. In the evenings, students will dress up in themes such as ninja night, neon night, twin night and hat night.
The band will perform at three home football games in September, including a Sept. 7 game against South Lakes High School. Tag Day will be held Sept. 8. Visit the Pride of Herndon's website by clicking here.

So glad you got a photo!! Marching band students work sooooo hard to memorize a show, in all kinds of weather and heat. It takes a lot of work to learn those routines plus the music.
