A coffee shop and cycling store is coming to downtown Herndon.

Mayor Lisa Merkel announced Friday afternoon that Green Lizard Cycling, a bike shop and espresso bar will be opening in the Nachman Building on Lynn Street this spring.

Most recently the Chabad of Reston-Herndon used the building. The Nachman Building is also known for being the first in Herndon to take part in the Council for the Arts of Herndon's downtown mural project.

What else would you like to see come to downtown Herndon?

What a great shop to have, right there on the W&OD trail!

Good point Doug. Maybe Herndon residents can help the new store owner by placing hazards like tacks on the trail so when riders get flat tires they will be right next to then new store.

Haha, the store may be appreciative of the business, but I'm not sure about the cyclists, Dave. :)

Take a look at how many folks park at the Municipal lot to go out for a bike ride on the W&OD every weekend. It will be great to have a local shop to lead rides and help advocate for a bike-friendly Herndon.

This is exciting! Even I thought about opening an independent coffee shop / juice bar downtown for cyclists. With HPC caddy-corner, Herndon could become a hub for cyclists, pun intended.

You guys picked an excellent location! During the weekend there are local rides that leave from the parking lot. During the summer, there is a Wednesday and Thursday club ride from the lot also. Cant wait, even though I dont drink coffee anymore :(
