Fire Intentionally Set at Herndon Kohl's Department Store

Investigators determined that a fire was intentionally set in the Kohl's Department Store located in Herndon on Tuesday.

The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department was called to a commercial structure fire at the Herndon at about 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, May 22. The store is located at 2100 Centreville Road. 

Upon arriving at the store, firefighters found heavy smoke throughout the store. The fire had activated the sprinkler system, which extinguished the bulk of the fire. Firefighters checked for fire and extension and ventilated the store. The Kohl's department store was evacuated when the smoke alarms went off. No injuries were reported. 

Damages are undetermined. According to investigators, the fire was intentionally set. The investigation is continuing.
