ESP for Young Audiences Presents "Little Women"

Little Women will run from Dec. 10-19

The Elden Street Players' Theater for Young Audiences is presenting a special holiday production of "Little Women," by Louisa May Alcott and dramatized by Sara Spencer.

The story is set in New England in 1863. Four teenage sisters, Jo, Amy, Beth and Meg, attempt to find joy in their lives where there is otherwise sadness. Their father, a chaplain in the military, is overseas serving in the Civil War. Their mother is trying to do all she can to hold things together and the girls use their creativity and courage to help their mom.

The girls also pursue their own interests; Jo is a writer, Amy an artist, Beth helps provide service to the poor and Meg wants to become a proper young lady. Next door neighbor, Theodore "Laurie" Laurence, is interested in the girls and helps them through their struggles.

"Little Women" is directed by Kat Brais and produced by Theresa Bender. It's produced by special arrangement with Anchorage Press Plays. The show will run from Dec. 10-19. Show times are listed below. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $7 for children age 10 and under.

Friday, Dec. 10 & 17; Saturday, Dec. 11 & 18; and Thursday, Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 11 & 18; Sunday, Dec. 12 & 19 at 2:30 p.m.

Performances are held at the Industrial Strength Theater, 269 Sunset Park Dr., Herndon, VA 20170.

ESP productions are partially supported by grants from the Town of Herndon, the Nelson and Katherine Post Foundation, the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
