Celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Herndon
A full schedule of events for anyone celebrating the Irish
St. Patrick's Day is quickly approaching and there's plenty going on in the Herndon area. If you're looking for a way to celebrate with Irish food, drink or entertainment, read on.
Enjoy St. Patty's day at O' Sullivan's Irish Pub and Restaurant. A full day of activities are planned so don't worry about missing out. Beginning at 8 a.m. a Kegs and Eggs event will be held with a brunch menu available until 11 am. Then, Irish favorites will be served including imported Irish speciality items, such as Bachelars beans.
Three Irish bands will perform throughout the day beginning at 12 am. They include Gael in Harbour, at 12 p.m., Durant and son, at 4:45 p.m., and the Michael Patrick Band, at 9:30 p.m. Irish dancers will also peform at 3:30 p.m. from the Boyle school of dance.
Want more? Bag pipers will entertain you while representatives from the Guinness, Harp and Smithwich's will visit. There will be give-a-ways and specials, among other things.
Jimmy's will be offering Irish food, drinks and music on Thursday, including homemade shepherds pie, bangers and mash, corned beef and cabbage, and Guinness lamb stew.
There will be a special performance by barbershop quartet "Sho 'N' Off" and the annual Lucky Charms guess for charity. DJ Z will be playing music during the day and the Men in Kilts Contest takes place at 11 p.m.
Complimentary souvenir pins will be given to the first 300 guests, and special edition Jimmy's St. Patrick's Day T-shirts go on sale at 11 a.m.
Finnegan's will open its doors at 9 a.m. for Irish breakfast. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Mike Wise show from 106.7 FM will be broadcasting.
After that the lineup includes Nate Ihara from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Kerry McCool from 2-5 p.m., Shirkaday from 2-5 p.m., Lenny Stevens from 5-8 p.m., Steele and Oglevee from 8-11 p.m. and DJ Easy from 9 p.m. to close.
Bag pipes will be performed throughout the day starting at 11 a.m., and Irish step dance performances will take place at 11 a.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. The celebration will also be taken outside and a heated tent will be filled with 55" televisions so St. Patty's Day patrons can watch March Madness games.
The St. Patrick's Day bash at Ned Devine's will start off with live Irish music by Phil Kominski at 11 a.m. and Dave Andrew Smith at 4 p.m.
Traditional food and drink, in the color of green, will be available as well as traditional Irish dancing performances at 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The night will end with a live performance by Gonzo's Nose, beginning at 10 p.m.
EuroBistro will honor St. Patrick's Day with Irish fare. They'll have corned beef and cabbage available for lunch and dinner.
