Celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Herndon
A number of area businesses are celebrating St. Patrick's Day.
Looking to celebrate your Irish heritage in Herndon this weekend — or just join in with those who are? There's a number of area businesses holding St. Patrick's Day celebrations. Here's a look at St. Paddy's Day events in and around town.
O'Sullivan's will be opening at 9 a.m. Sunday with kegs and eggs, and live music all day. The restaurant features many Irish food and drinks including shepherds pie. Thursday night and Friday night leading up to St. Patrick's Day will include live music by Mike Leverone and Oren Polak.
Finnegan's will be opening at 9 a.m. St. Patrick's Day with an Irish breakfast. Throughout the day there will be entertainment for all ages, including Irish step dancers, a heated tent and live music. At 5 p.m. the Northern Virginia Firefighters Emerald Society Pipe Band will perform.
Jimmy's will open at 9 a.m. Sunday offering Irish food, drinks and music all day long. Irish specials will include shepherds pie, Guinness lamb stew, corned beef and cabbage, bangers and mash, and homemade Bailey's Irish Cream cake. The first 300 guests will get souvenir pins and special edition T-shirts will be available. Barbershop quartet Sho'N'Off will perform, and the Lucky Charms guess for charity and the Men in Kilts Contest will be back.
From 7-9 p.m. Saturday night, Ned's will have Irish step dancing performances. The restaurant offers a variety of Irish food and drinks. On Sunday, head back to Ned's to hear a favorite local cover band, Gonzo's Nose. The band takes the stage at 9 p.m.
The Breeze will open the bar at 8 a.m. and the kitchen opens with breakfast at 9 a.m. From 11 a.m. on corned beef and cabbage and other regular menu items will be available. The Breeze is also having two Best Irish Costume Contests at noon and 6 p.m.
