Capitol Steps Benefit Raises Record $147K
30th annual performance, auctions, will Reston Interfaith programs.
The 30th Annual Capitol Steps Benefit at the Hyatt Regency Reston raised a record $147,395 for Reston Interfaith on Sunday.
About 600 guests attended the political satire performance.
St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Boofie and Joe O'Gorman, L.C. and an anonymous donor provided matching incentives for guests who collectively raised $50,000.

Del. Ken Plum served as auctioneer.
"Just a few blocks away from the event, 70 men, women and children are staying at the Embry Rucker Community Shelter because they have no permanent home," Plum said. "Plus, 50 or more people are sleeping on mats in the shelter’s open space, or at Reston Interfaith’s winter Hypothermia Prevention Program. This event gives people the opportunity to help Reston Interfaith provide a safe, comfortable home for families in the shelter."

Local artist Dana Ann Scheurer's painting Dancin’ on the Dome, by awarded to the highest bidder during the event’s live auction.
Money raised will go to Reston Interfaith's programs to help families in need.
