Auburn School to Host Mini-Walk Fundraiser for FACETS
The school has already met its initial fundraising goal of $100.
Local residents will have the chance to participate in Fannie Mae’s Help the Homeless Program over the next few weeks.
The program includes many walks and walking events to help raise funds to help those without homes, and Herndon’s Auburn School will be hosting its own mini-walk on Friday. Since its inception in 1988, the Help the Homeless Program has raised more than $85 million to help homeless individuals and families.
A group of Auburn School staff, students and their families and friends will participate in the Mini-Walk, which also raises awareness about homelessness and other issues surrounding homelessness.
Funds raised by the walk will benefit FACETS, a Fairfax nonprofit that works to help prevent and end homelessness in the area, and break the cycle of poverty.
Auburn’s Help the Homeless Mini-Walk will begin at 3:15 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23 at The Auburn School, 13525 Dulles Technology Dr., in Herndon.
The Auburn School said part of its mission is educating its students about social awareness and community support. The Mini-Walk is a way for the school to encourage community service and awareness.
