ArtSpace's 2013 Fine Art Photography Exhibition Opens April 23
Thirty five area photographers will have work featured in the exhibit.
ArtSpace Herndon's annual 2013 Fine Art Photography competition will open April 23 and run through May 26.
According to ArtSpace's press release, the exhibit features visually rich and unique images. The exhibit includes the work of 35 finalists. More than 200 entries from 76 photographers were submitted to the competition.
The winners of the competition will be announced by juror Barry Schmetter during the Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony on Saturday, April 27 from 7-9 p.m. First, second and third place winners will receive cash awards.

Schmetter is a Washington, DC-based photographer and artist who uses historic photographic processes as a way to explore memory, forgetting andother human cognitive processes.

He often uses large format cameras and antique lenses dating to the early history of photography in his work. He teaches workshops and seminars in alternative and historic photograph processes. He most recently taught at the Maryland Institute College of Art and the Frederick, Maryland Historical Society.
Schmetter was the event director of Artomatic 2012, the biggest independent art and performance exhibit in the Washington, DC area. He's also a founding member of Art Reactor, an art and teaching collective.
