George Schaeffler moves a big piece of dough at Great Harvest Bread Co. in Herndon.

Great Harvest in downtown Herndon was bustling Wednesday morning as they prepared for one of the store's busiest days of the year. They expected to make roughly 1,700 loafs of bread today, that would be sold at the three local stores in Herndon, Vienna and Ashburn. The Herndon store baked for all three stores this year.

GREAT set of photos at Great Harvest Bread Co. (GHB)!
Another phase of the sequence: whole grain flour is GHB’s market niche. Their bread is made from freshly ground premium high-protein whole wheat daily. THAT is the main difference in taste and nutrition that makes GHB outstanding. They also use no preservatives and fresh locally-grown ingredients in season.

Of course, locally, the main store and bakery in downtown Herndon has become a landmark destination for countless folks in the area who care about what they eat and love the atmosphere – the “hometown spirit” of homemade Great Harvest Bread. Thanks to all who sustain this continuing positive presence in our lives.
