Tortilla Factory - Re-opening?? Could It Be True!!!

Yes...it may be true...

There is a team of investors developing a business model to determine if it is viable to reopen under new management while keeping the traditional menu and other great traditions that were lost at the end.

The name has been secured and recipes come from one of the original owners -when things were really good!

Looking into the original space and will keep everyone posted.

We would love to start a mailing list of interested patrons.

We lived in Herndon for 17 years (moved to WA State 14 years ago) . Knowing the Tortilla Factory had closed, there seemed to be nothing to look forward to when we come back to visit. NOW we can look forward to great Tortilla Factory food!

I have loved the Tortilla Factory for more than 30 years and considered it and Chuck a part of the family. Few, if any, bigger fans than me and there are no words for how sad I was when it closed. Bring it!!

I started going to "The Tort" more than 30 years ago, and after I moved away, visited every time I came to town, so I was really sad when it shut down. It re-opening would be the best news EVER!

A nice makeover and attention to detail will make Tortilla Factory my go to joint again. I'd invest in that model.

Are there still employees from the old management of Tortilla Factory who were not paid for their work? Is there any chance they will be paid?

But please don't open it back up in that dump of a shopping center. That place is creepy. How about the North Point Center in the old Blockbusters? Or Luau Garden is available....

Great news...we tried to get one last meal the last two weeks it was open, but couldn't get near the place because of popular demand. The Tortilla Factory was the best landmark in Herndon....Hope it is again.

Over the last months I have received private e-mails from people asking me if I have the "Salsa Recipe." I do not. People please don`t send me anymore private e-mails asking me if I have the Tortilla Factory`s Salsa Recipe. If I ever do get the famous Salsa Recipe I will immediately post it on here for everyone. If you don`t see the Salsa Recipe posted on The Herndon Patch message board by me you can always safely assume that I don`t have it. Thank You in advance for your understanding and cooperation..

I've had to tell many people who've emailed and contacted me the same thing, Chris. I have not yet heard any information related to the salsa recipe being released, however, if I do I'll make sure to let everyone know both here on Herndon Patch and on the Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/herndonpatch)

The recipes are secured until the Corporation is dissolved. There are no plans to dissolve the Corporation to date. At the moment, no one has the rights to access the recipes. As much as we all love the Tortilla Factory, we need to be patient thru this trauma.

Been going to the TF since the mid 80's when there was pretty much nothing else around. LOVED the Black Bean Guacamole appetizer and or course the salsa. I am living in Europe and made it a habit to fly through Dulles on my way to wherever I was going and run to the TF during my layover! Much nostalgic value. Even after 15 years abroad the owner would take one look at me and give me the discount without even asking for a card I had long ago lost or tossed.
On the other hand, let us not kid ourselves, the food was generally not very Mexican like. In my opinion, Anita's just down the street offered significantly better food all around. I just enjoyed the aforementioned dip and salsa so much that I remained a regular just for that.

The TF did have the best guac as well as it's salsas. I miss it's guac. Kimberley Fox is right in her earlier comment about the recipes. Further away than Anita's is la Cochita authentic Mexican Central and South American very good. But still not the TF's salsa and guac.

Good luck!

Same thing happened to us. When we went for our anniversary we discovered they were closed. It was so disappointing to have the thought of it in your head and almost being able to taste it then to drive up and your night got shattered because it was no longer there.
