Rep. Wolf Recognizes Congressinal Award Winners

Rep. Frank Wolf (R-10) presented Congressional Awards — the highest award presented to youth by Congress — to local students in recognition of their community service projects on Oct. 5.

Wolf presented awards to the following students:

• Herndon resident Kelsie Mietla, Congressional Award Gold Medalist, University of Virginia

• Herndon resident Andy Crump, Congressional Award Bronze Medalist, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology

• McLean resident Lea Mulder, Congressional Award Bronze Medalist, Langley High School

• Purcellville resident Michael Wallace, Congressional Award Bronze Medalist, Loudoun Valley High School

• McLean resident Jane Willner, Congressional Award Silver Medalist, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology

To earn the Congressional Award, young people must set and achieve goals in the four program areas: voluntary public service, personal development, physical fitness and expedition/exploration. The only other medal awarded by the United States Congress is the Medal of Honor.
