Herndon Band-The Pride of Herndon--Music is in the Air!!

The Pride of HerndonHerndon Marching Band –takes the field, blacktop, classroom and stage!!!  Music is in the air!!  You might be hearing brass, woodwinds, and percussion this week as band camp continues for two sessions daily.  The band is practicing from 8AM to noon and 5-9 PM this week to get their show ready.  We are excited about their fall show which is called Songs of the Northern Seas.  The marching band is 120 members strong, under the direction of Kathleen Jacoby, and is looking forward to their first home football game on September 7thTAG DAY is coming soon-- Sept 8th….What is TAG DAY??  Tag Day is the biggest fundraising event for the Pride of Herndon Band.   These donations can be used for future expenses such as concert fees and their Spring Trip.  All HHS band and guard students will walk door-to-door in their neighborhoods asking for contributions.   The students travel in groups of two or three and hand out flyers with information about the band and tags with the concert schedule for the band (hence the name - Tag Day) while asking for contributions.  The Pride of Herndon is proud to be hosting the 16th Virginia’s Showcase of Bands on September 29th.  This will be an all day competition with over 25 bands taking the field in competition.   Mark your calendar for September 29th and enjoy concessions and see fabulous bands performing for your entertainment!!   Our very own Pride of Herndon will be marching in exhibition that evening!!
